Re: Do vets in your country microchip pets?
Betty was microchipped when she was spayed as the needle was a bit too big for her tiny frame the vet said it would hurt too much, Elsie was done yesterday and apart from one startled look just turned round to lick and love the vet after he did it. No sense no feeling I think the saying isRe: Do vets in your country microchip pets?
My dog was microchipped when i bought her from the rescue centre ,but ive moved from that address and when looking on the web site it says theres a 15£ charge for updating the address, which i think is a bit over the top,so at this point ive not done it ..what we have done is bought her a new dog tag, with phone number on .plus it does say scan me on the reverse. If they did go to the old address we know who lives there now and i would contact them immediatly .Re: Do vets in your country microchip pets?
All our shelters microchip pets, but the chip is registered to the shelter not to the owner. The shelter keeps a record of who adopted the pet and then will make the determination IF that person should be given the pet back. The reason is... they can assess the animal to see if it was cared for, or if it was just left to roam the streets or was perhaps abused.Re: Do vets in your country microchip pets?
All responsible dog and cat owners in UK have their pets microchipped but that sadly is only a minority of owners. In mainland Europe (where my wife has a small farm) it is compulsory to microchip your pet. Rianna has a chip which can be read by any ISO approved reader where ever she is.Re: Do vets in your country microchip pets?

Back in the early 90's when we got our 1st Jack Russell, our vet at the time was an older Polish man & he actually refused to microchip Poco.
