Isis destroying artefacts

It's a great shame Isis are destroying such artefacts that can't ever be replaced , not really sure what their logic is to destroy such artefacts

Trying to eradicate anything that reminds them the lands have not always been the caliphate, quite what the end to this will be I can't imagine.

Re: Isis destroying artefacts

Its a crying shame. Even though I would never get to see them. Myself , why deny others to see a part of History thats been around for hundreds of years ,

Re: Isis destroying artefacts

Maybe it's just me but I think that destroying ancient artifacts is a vile, senseless crime. These things can NEVER be replaced.

Re: Isis destroying artefacts

Its easy to deny that there is an alternative to your way of thinking if you destroy all evidence that proves there is ..
Its a tactic thats been used before and will no doubt be used again.

Re: Isis destroying artefacts

Think its to do with the depiction of living things which is banned under Islam. But if you look very closely at some of the statue's being destroyed they seem to be plaster cast.the real ones hopefully have been spirited away years ago

Re: Isis destroying artefacts

I'm with you, Alan. I hate reading of these crimes. They may seem like worthless pieces, but they are history.
