Re: Do we want/need another nuclear power station?
We need to scrap HS2, for that cash we could build three power stations. Building these vitally important public utilities on "tick", then allowing the constructors to make vast profits over two generations defies comprehension. Just another PFI project really, and look what all those are doing for schools and hospitals.Re: Do we want/need another nuclear power station?
Re: Do we want/need another nuclear power station?
The power supply industry can't win whatever it does. The anti-nuclear lobby say we should have wind power instead, and just when you think this makes sense up pops the anti-windpower lobby complaining that windfarms are unsightly and that the low background hum of the generators causes headaches.Re: Do we want/need another nuclear power station?
Its all very well building new nuclear power stations but no-one seems to have had any thought to what to do with the 'waste'??? Sellafield is rapidly filling up with nuclear waste and can't take much more. So where else will the waste be stored??? There was huge debate about this during John Major's premiership when they were looking to store it in vast pits underground and both the geologists and the local residents protested against it because the ground was unstable.
