I don't have a smart phone or any of these new fangled picture taking things. Not saying they are bad just not for me, they are too restricting in what they can and cannot do.
it is more a case of what one is used to then anything else. I don't think you can beat a decent DSLR camera for picture quality and versatility anyway.
I can't yet see a professional photographer turning up to take photos at a wedding with a smart phone, but it will happen sometime I suspect
The big difference to do a comparison is when the light is bad say in a dark room or late evening . That is when a DSLR will beat anything hands down.
You can't operate a remote flash gun with a smart phone or I don't think so, another drawback in my opinion
