Alto Saxofone anyone.

Some folk's may remember the all-girl Ivy Benson 'Big Band' from way back when?...well, her brother, Roy, (initially having his own band), became a manufacturer of instruments...mainly Alto Saxofone's, and I have one for sale...(don't have the 'puff' anymore!).

The instrument is in a hard case, complete with all it's accoutrements...(internal brush, reed's, etc,)...and it's note-perfect and dent-free!.

If anyone is interested, please add to my post and I'll be happy to give you my e-mail addy, and we'll take it from there, ok?.

yes I remember ivy Benson, does any one remember Thelma Hammond s band playing in SCarborough donkeys years ago, it seemed to be under the Valley bridge near the lift and I think it was sort of underground.

Re: Alto Saxofone anyone.

Good Morning, Les!.

Firstly, might I apologise for my lack of response?...(fact is, after checking back a coupla times, I didn't really expect any replies!).

Now, down to basic's, ok?. As a guitarist, I've been a collector for many years and, in truth, I bought the instrument some years ago on a 'whim'...(gawd know's what I hoped to achieve with it!)...but, here are some details, ok?.

As I said in my initial post, Les, it's in immaculate condition and cased in a hard-shell case with an oval perspex inset which read's...'Roy Benson Wind Instruments', topped with a Crown, and the case is lined with purple fur.

As for the instrument itself, the bell is engraved, and bear's the legend 'Roy Benson...wind instruments'...and continues with 'AS-101'. (now, whether this pertains to the model number, I have absolutely no Idea because, as I said, I'm a guitarist and simply bought this on a whim!)...also, the key's are inlaid with 'mother-of-pearl' and included are two slings, (one a string, the other a strap).

However, if your interested, please feel free to contact me, ok?.

Should you reply, Les, I'll be happy to let you have my e-mail addy, ok?.

Re: Alto Saxofone anyone.

Hi again, Les,

As for how much I'm looking at for it?...to be truthful, I haven't a clue!. Had it been a guitar I could probably tell you to the penny what it's worth, but, as I said, it was an impulse buy and, being completely unfamiliar with wind instruments, there's a couple of way's we can arrive at a mutually agreeable figure.

I could take it to my local music shop and have the owner value it...(I'm known there, so he'll give me a fair valuation)...and/or I can send you several pics, from which you might decide yourself, as the expert, what you feel the value might be.

I think this might be the fairest way for both of us, ok?.
