..... overslept again and had to drag myself out of bed. Nothing important to do and Dcat slept on the bed all night again. He's feeling fine I think and his fangs look superb
Jem, my Dad's Mum was from Tallaght (near Dublin) ~ what's it like now ?
Mum says when they visited in 1948 ! it was very nice

Dragged myself out of bed at 6.30 a.m. because I had to be at the surgery by 8 a.m. for the annual blood test. It's only a 10 minute drive to our local town but it takes me a good bit longer than that to keep my eyelids propped open. Neighbours across the road wanted to come with me because their car is off the road and they needed to deal with a few things in town, this is no problem for me but around here shops and offices don't open until around 10 a.m. So they waited in the clinic with me, we were only there about 10 minutes and I was sorted, then we went to a nice little German cafe and had breakfast. Got their affairs dealt with and I drove home again, dropped the neighbours off and went to my regular Thursday morning meet up with friends for an hour or so. Home again and I'm trying, and failing, to motivate myself into some kind of action. We had a terrific thunderstorm last night, lots of hailstones and torrents of rain but now it is sunny again, for the time being, very warm if out of the wind but that flipping chilly wind is still with us, it doesn't seem to want to go.

This old photo of Tallaght Village is dated 1943, looks older to me.
Ah Rachel they wouldn't know the place today, it used to be lovely with farms and a tiny village at the foot of the Dublin mountains, then about the 1970's they starting building a huge housing estate in Tallaght, my brother raised a Family there and still lives there, it's a nice enough estate with the biggest shopping centre in Ireland, it's far too big for my liking, like any other large housing estate today, obviously not as picturesque as it was.
That's good you spelt the place correct, I can never get it right, it's pronounced 'Talla'.

Ooooo that does look older .... no cars at all .... lovely.A few decades ago, my parents were chatting with an Irish barman in a local pub (here) and he said he knew Tallaght. He told them he knew great gran's cottage and a main road had been built around it !
We never managed to find out if he was making it up but it sounded far fetched

I tied flickr, Francis Frith and google but they all seem to have modern pics ~ yuk

.........been waiting for a couple of small parcels. One was supposed to be here between 7 and 9am
We've been taking it in turns to do gardening, in case we miss the doorbell
(wondered if I should put a note on the door, saying we are 'out the back' 
)I've decided that, if we miss them tomorrow, tough. If the weather is grotty we may go to the garden centre.

I found a package today hidden behind one of my wheelie bins
No note to say it had been delivered so it could have been there for days.
