I agree. It's not nice feeling sad.

Re: Forum manners

I see many faces during my working day, and sadness is written across the majority of them. Some are lucky to rise above it all.

It's all de fault of dem damn serious, whinging, complaining people. If they took advice from a few frivolous, seriously funny people, this big mess wouldn't have happened.

Re: Forum manners

Depends on the circumstances, whats going on - this particular issue called for a bit of banter - getting a bit bogged down with 'detail' ......
Certainly didn't warrant a thread about it - it was a 'short' bit of light relief, in the hope it wouldn't get too serious on the detail front ......
I'll try to behave in future

No 'luck' involved - sometimes it takes a lot of effort to put on a brave - happy face, but you dont want to bring others down around you so thats what you do ......

Re: Forum manners

I think some people just have those sort of faces their default face is pretty miserable looking but they may actually be feeling fine. My neighbour has one of those faces when she is out and about people are always saying cheer up it may never happen and she is puzzled by that but gosh she does look miserable so I can see why it happens.

Really cant stand that saying - its so insensitive to say that to someone
Refer - 'cheer up - may never happen'

Re: Forum manners

I agree it's not something I would ever say to someone mainly because it may have already happened which has caused the unhappiness.

I wonder if that's part if the problem with forum manners we just don't know what goes on in other people's lives, a lot of us here are on pain medication and that IME can make people grumpy, I know when I have been awake all night with pain I am not the happiest bunny next day.

If ever I have said that to someone its because I am concerned about them and only trying to instigate a little smile. Very often someone was just pre-occupied and so will smile again, or sometimes it has helped them to start talking about what's worrying them, depends who it is and their needs at that time. Either way its only because I care and it can be better than just ignoring someone who is obviously upset.
If it don't work for some, they will deal with it differently.
