People like to debate/argue topics even if they do eventually descend into the realms of getting personal. No real harm in that in my opinion. Those taking part in threads always have the option of bowing out at any time. Those reading them always have the option to try and resist looking in.

All things considered, providing there is no profanity, I'd say to let things be. Polite forums are nice but people don't always feel polite about some aspects of life. Also, a forum could become uninteresting without the odd bit of sparring for those who want to do it ..and for those who want to read it.
