Re: Are Battle-Axes Still Alive And Kicking?

My mother-in-law was a battle axe alright. She used to take most of my husband-to-be's wages off him for his keep when he was an apprentice. He gave that up for a better paid job in a factory. When he was leaving home in readiness for our wedding, she was in the street shouting he wasn't going until he'd paid her his keep for his final week at home. I was horrified. I was told by someone she was saying she thought I must be pregnant, in fact she would find out later that I wasn't. I never had much to do with her after we were married and likewise she never took any interest in us or her grandchildren.

I'm still married to her son after forty odd years so she raised a good man despite her faults

Re: Are Battle-Axes Still Alive And Kicking?

Even tho' I've been married 3 times, I've only had one M.I.L and two F's,I.L.

The bestest husband's mum and dad were brilliant and very poor, but they would give you anything. They were so lovely I wanted them as my real mum and dad.
I could have cuddled his dad till the cows came home.
His mum was rather odd and did nag a bit, but it was always in jest really. She was such a card.

The other F.I.L. was ok. Nothing special.

Art... my mum, in her 'lucid' moments, called me Peggy Mount once or twice - always related to me trying to get her to take her pills I hasten to add

This thread was made for Tpin. I'm sure he would have had some marvellous quips about battle axes!

So where is he anyway? Have you sent out a search party?

I know Floydy, I asked someone where he was the other day.

He seems to have gone AWOL.

I miss him and his daft posts.
