You could mail it to Carol for a trial run before she purchases?

Mine's the Premier Plus Digital TENS-Clinically Approved Tens Machine -12 Programmes For Maximum Pain Relief from Amazon, AC adapter or battery, many are just battery charged, it costs £49 but well worth it!

Re: Tens machine

I bought one from Boots when they first came out cost around £70.......only got relief when attached to it.

Not long ago my shoulder was bad, the physio at the hospital made little difference and I was awoke during the night with terrible pain. Patsy recommended the pain pen which I bought off Amazon, it has stopped the pain, not got rid but I use the pen when the pain returns.

Yes Gabi - the pen works like painkillers do and gives you a break from the pain - handy little thing
The only problem is I need Fabs to apply it, either in an awkward place or arthritis prevents me ............

Re: Tens machine

I'm sure we discussed this machine some time ago but I'm happy to repeat what I said back then. Mine is the one from Boots and though the pads are very 'tacky', it works for me.

I bought mine quite some years ago and have often thought of getting a new one from Tesco but well, it still works. Recently it helped with my shoulder and neck pains. Kept it running for quite some minutes, changing the mode and level, and coupled with some paracetamols, allowed me to sleep pain free.

Re: Tens machine

I'm glad these work for some people. I was loaned one by the physio at local hospital but it did no good for me. Hubby had used one a few years earlier and it didn't work for him either.

Funny that - exactly the same for me when loaned from the hospital - the pen has given results though

Re: Tens machine

Flipside, bloody health risk.

I had muscle ache in my shoulder so decided to try the Tens machine, put the pads on the area of aching and fell asleep, the following day I couldn't lift a bag of sugar it was so painful.

Over the next few months the pain was unbearable so the specialist sent me for nerve conductive tests, they found I'd damaged the nerves around the shoulder. It took 2 years to mend and after 5 years I still lack the strength I once had.
