Even ordinary jokes are looked down upon

Hate to say it but my sister in law has her nose stuck so high up in the air She can't see how "ordinary" people behave. Even Sue, who is her twin, agrees with me. To give some idea you would never take her to a pub carvery it is too low class for her, her type of pub has weird dishes-small amounts and charges the earth . Shopping with her is a nightmare , if the food is not from a specialist type shop then forget it.

Innuendos have been told since people learnt to talk. Look at your comedians of yesteryear, they were always hinting at something with two meanings, now it is downright filth
I hope I am not in your 'stuck up prude' category, Realspeed, as I enjoy a good joke as much as the next person - just not comfortable with the 'dirty' variety. But, as i said, to each his own!

Your SiL sounds like a real pain - strange that twins can be so different !

YES.
Of course it does!
I am 100% with you Judd.
I think, depending on the thread topic perhaps then a bit of 'saucy' (I prefer that to it being called 'smut) can give a chuckle to cheer up the day.
I note that Silver Tabby says that there is a 'cheeky chat' section, and that is all very good.
BUT.
One has to sign in using hahaha to enter and hardly anyone ever bothers with it.
Perhaps because they just think the section is full of 'filth' and stuff.
Which it is certainly NOT!
I am absolutely certain that none of us (includes me) who likes to post a bit of innuendo occasionally wishes to offend anyone here.
Not for one moment!
But come on, cut us a bit of slack will ya?
Try watching Graham Norton on telly and he and his guests are always bantering far worse than anyone here would want to go.
Come on again.
Chill out.
Why don't you?

I wouldn't mind betting that someone here will be offended by your 'saucy' postcard Azure.
How could you!
I mean.
Most people want to be offended by almost anything nowadays?
Don't they?
If I were you, I would be afraid.
Very afraid!

I think there is a place for if on forums but used sparingly and in the right threads is best. Some of our smuttier posters are great and inject a lovely irreverence into threads, but knowing which thread to do it in is key.

I think you are wrong BC! Most people here have a sense of humor and can laugh at a saucy post card.....The only time they get annoyed is when the odd member becomes obsessed with smutty post. We can all have a giggle at a rude comment, but if it becomes the total reason for the thread then most of us find it offensive. and often boring!

I think what you say there has it about right Julie.
Now then.
All I need is to find that flipping key!
