Re: Statins

Heart attacks and strokes can be caused by so many things, high cholesterol may be the least worrying thing to have if you have other factors against you.
Also they seem here to take no notice of what sort of cholesterol they try to destroy, when I asked for a better breakdown my good cholesterol was high but my bad was very low. If I had just taken the tablets as directed it would have brought both down I would imagine when there was no need.

"To me you take your chance on life and how long do these people want you to live. In my mind, you die when your are ready to go no matter what tablets you have taken. I believe in fate not tablets."
I agree with this, we can't keep curing everything and making people live longer, it's just not working, too many people to look after!

Re: Statins

I took statins for years until I did some research and found many doctors no longer liked to prescribe them and a healthier diet could be the way forward, spoke to my gp and she agreed so I'm now statin free

and plenty of veggies, I love wholemeal bread, never eat the white stuff, lots of roughage and less fatty foods though I am partial to the odd sausage!

Re: Statins

I don't think anyone would deny that lifestyle choices have a direct bearing on cholesterol in many cases..but not all.

Having an excessively high level of lipids in your blood can have a serious effect on your health, as it increases your risk of having a heart attack or stroke.
