It's all well and good to state a build up of fluids as an excuse but can you imagine come the winter when colds and flu are abound and everyone went around gobbing and flobbing every time they felt bunged up or phlegm coming up off their chests? Nope, it's horrible.

I will admit runners do it a lot and it isn't frowned upon by other runners but they only do it when running. No way do they do it or condone it in normal everyday activity. Also a runner is highly unlikely to be running when ill, especially with a cold or flu.

If you are worried about the above what about when a call of nature takes you by surprise and there ain't a toilet in sight .

As an ex-Scout leader, I would be fully prepared for such an event

It has rarely happened but of the times it has, it has tended to be when I'm up in the hills and few people venture that far so it wouldn't be witnessed (I am way too ladylike for that ), or be harmful, to anyone.
