Yes of course. I'm absolutely sure that Tesco are doing the right thing. But don't forget that there are some criminals out there who have contaminated food in the past. It doesn't happen very often and is probably nothing to worry about.

My son-in-law worked at a plant where they grew mushrooms and he says there's no need to wash. But I'm of the old school that washes everything.

I give my mushrooms a quick wash, considering the medium in which they are grown.

I don't wash or peel mushrooms, just eat them as they come, raw or cooked. I haven't sufferd so far.

I don't wash or peel mushrooms either. I would not normally eat mushrooms unless they came from a shop, although I have in the past eaten ones grown in the wild, when I was sure that they had been picked by someone who knew their mushrooms - so to speak.

Same here Alan, I used to go with my elder brother at the crack of dawn mushroom picking, just peel and cook Mmmmm wonderful.

How he knew they were safe I dont know, never gave it a thought way back

Washed or unwashed there is something so deliciously satisfying about mushrooms on toast, especially when you have picked them fresh yourself.

I never wash grapes, plums, peaches, apricots, pears, apples etc. So why wash mushrooms ?

I don"t wash or peel them, cut chop them up and put into dish I am making. Doesn"t seem to have done us any harm.
