I suspect it would be different if somebody called one of Malcom' s family fattie. I am all for making honest comments but that is just insulting.

Re: Fat obese chubby /insulting

It's kinda sad when people are more concerned over what nickname people assign to overweight people than they are about the fact they are actually overweight.

Parents have a duty to educate their kids and steer them in the right direction. They have a duty to educate themselves and understand what foods and drinks are good and bad, and to educate their children likewise.
Up until the age of consent a child should be given good foods and kept on a decent diet that does not make them overweight in their early years. Beyond that the child becomes an adult and makes their own choices.

Re: Fat obese chubby /insulting

The girl in question is still developing and it would be wrong for her to get too obsessive about her diet. However, she does look a little on the 'Plump' side and exercise might be a worthwhile addition to her daily routine. On the other hand, when you are so visible on the world stage it might be beneficial to grow a thick skin where social media is concerned, by taking it seriously you can fall into all kinds of emotional and mental quicksand.

Just to comment on Malcolm's post. There are all kinds of laws now to prevent discrimination, but I don't know if they are doing more harm than good 'Fat person' describes someone who is overweight and I can see no offence by calling someone fat if they are. Perhaps they didn't realise they were fat. If people are going to get mental issues from being called fat, they should not be taught to alter their body shape, but be taught to accept criticism without reaction. This world can be a rough place to live - especially now we've got facebook and twitter and there will always be the smug name callers, who can remain anonymous in the safety of their own domains, their opinions are worthless. If you are happy with your body shape, that's all that should matter.

Re: Fat obese chubby /insulting

Anyone who is overweight can lose the fat, but a great many don't. To get fat in the first place you have to lead a certain type of lifestyle and largely ignore the changes happening to your body until you become obese.

Therefore NOT getting fat in the first place would seem to be an excellent strategy for a healthy life.

A strategy of "get chubby whilst you are young because as you grow older you will stretch and balance out" would, to me, appear to be a foolhardy and rather perilous gamble at best.

I have always found that those who act as champions of those complainants of intolerance of obesity are in fact fatties themselves.
Perhaps it makes them feel more comfortable in their ever constricting skins

Hi

If you are fat you are fat, if you are skinny, you are skinny, live with it.

People calling you non ideal weight will not alter the fact that you are fat.

Nothing more to say really.

Re: Fat obese chubby /insulting

We are talking about a 12 year old child here, who is in the public eye. She is not blind or deaf so will see and hear these comments and anybody who thinks it is ok to criticize a child in that manner, especially when she is not in a position to defend herself, needs to re-examine their own uncaring personality.
Unless your children were perfect, I am sure people could have found reasons to criticize them...... I wonder who's side you would be on in those circumstances!
