Re: Mark's Poems & Prose
will this help??
Is Love Sublime?
You say you love me , but ‘not IN love’
Cannot live without me, need me all the time
Oh what a love sublime!
You crave me day and night
Feel lonely, cry for love
But criticize and ‘put me right’
You say we are as one; Oh what love sublime?
You say you’re often bored, and want me to excite
Take you dancing and romancing
Carry you home in the wee hours
And tuck you safely in: Oh what love sublime?
you say you love me, but ‘not IN love’
I don’t know what you mean, how can it be
Perhaps you love to see me puzzled and confused
Is this love sublime?
And yet at times you have your rage
When my eyes stray from your form
Rest on others adorn, you pout and demand my love
Is this love sublime?
You say those other words, devoted, cherished, mine
But ‘not IN love, is love so blind?
Does love just stifle hearts, and swamp all thoughts of ME
Does love demand allegiance to stay and never flee?
Is love conditioned on what I give and you give back
Something to be rationed out and paid for with a sign
Of gratitude and humbleness, does this make love sublime?
I think the bird has flown and isn’t coming back
The cage looked shiny from outside but crippled her inside
She felt the air rush by, the cobwebs brush away
The sun felt good upon her locks, Ah now is love sublime!
