Exports to the EU are arriving in pretty much the same timescales as pre pandemic and Brexit

This does not explain why U.K. exports alto the EU have fallen so much more than EU exports to the UK TV

The pandemic has affected imports coming into Harwich by again that doesn’t explain why our exports have fallen so much

But why is this happening do you know?

I think you are absolutely right. It is only a couple of months and monthly figures fluctuate not only seasonally but because of both short term external and internal factors.

Leaving the EU was a big step which ever side you are on and surely the effect will only start showing a trend after six or twelve months figures are available?

Some of the glee expressed over trivial events in the Brexit Forum gives an impression of desperation when there is really no need - figures in the middle and end of this year will give a truer picture of how Brexit has effected the British people and Britain's economy.

Re: Trade figures since Brexit !!

Hi

The ONS have criticised Gove and co for the figures they use, so have the Freight Haulage Association.

Gove is a Politician, he is being devious.

Of course the figures balance for inward bound HGVs and outward bound, we are not a huge lorry park.

Unfortunately 40% of the outward bound, our exports, are empty.

Locally we are having layoffs, we do not have enough vets to sign the export Certificates.

We cannot blame industry for this, it is purely a Government Issue which they have known about for years.

It is also a huge cock up by Frost, he let it slip, the idiot.

We did not go for equivalence, which we had years ago, EHOs signing the Certificates, not Vets.

UK Vets are very different to EU Vets, they are trained to a much higher level and in different skill sets.

EU Vets are Offal Spotters, you would not let them near your pets, they are the same as our Meat Inspectors.

Yet another example of how stupid we are.

The EU would have caved at this one, it would have affected their exports far more than it would have affected ours.

Boris does not do detail, the EU does and it is winning hands down.

There is a very simple solution to this nonsense.

It is also perfectly legitimate, we simply define Veterinary Certificates as those issued by those with a UK definition of Veterinary Surgeon.

No more Danish Bacon, French Cheese etc etc.

We are stupid, the EU are not.

No, imports from the EU have been fine during the pandemic. The problems only started in January and only on Goods from Europe. Stock coming from South America and China is taking the same time as before and arrived undamaged.

And let's not forget that the economy wasn't even in the top three of reasons why people voted Brexit - yet it seems to be the only subject that remainers obsess over.

Then this is an issue with your courier surely ?

We have zero issues with EU imports so I'm surprised that you're experiencing this. We use UPS who I can recommend for imports into the UK from Germany. Have you spoken to the courier and asked them what the hold-up is ? What did they say ?

The other thing it could be is your suppliers only operating on a minimal workforce and finding it hard to source parts and delays in manufacturing from within the EU (or outside of it) because of the pandemic. Have you checked your dispatch dates and order dates ?

That's because they predicted a disaster Takahashi?
So they must now demonstrate a disaster !!
The op posits that the fluctuations we see are a sign of the
desired outcome of brexit, eg. Less reliance on EU imports and
more ROW exports and imports ??Which is what appears to be
happening !!
Even according to Banchory ??

I agree. It all boils down to one problem: our politicians.

We need a change - NOW, not in 2024.

It is UPS that’s causing all the problems and more specifically Stamford le Hope / Thames Gateway

DPD who use a different route have no problems

Get rid of UPS then and stick with DPD. It's probably something to do with UPS behind the problems then.
