Re: When does an adopted country become a home?

I was born in Italy, came here in Canada when I was 6, so home for me is Canada, however, Italy will always hold a special place in my heart. I never heard my parents say "back home" however, I remember this neighbor of mine always talking about Italy and complaining about Canada....this gets me upset because where you are should become home, anyways one time he got me so upset that I just told him "No one is forcing you to stay, stop complaining or go back to Italy !!"

We should never forget where we came from, but we should be grateful for all we have in our adopted country.

Re: When does an adopted country become a home?

I was born and bred in New Zealand.
Arrived in Canada when I was 26.
I love it here, but NZ will always be "home" to me.
I'm still a NZ citizen, and that's where my family are (what's left of them.)

I think part of the reason (or maybe most!) is that I always intended on going back, but stuff happens in life sometimes don't it!
I don't whine about Canada.
Hang on, I lie!
I whine about the government often!
Other than that, I am a happy camper!

Re: When does an adopted country become a home?

I've just moved house a month ago, and enjoy living here, a lovely rural area where people actually talk and say good morning
I'll never forget my roots though, i could go back anytime as i only moved 20 miles away. But as for now i like where i am
