Mis-diagnosed
Me father was bi-polar
Me mother schizoid type
Me sister got depression
every single night
Me brother was neurotic
And me? - a psychopath
No wonder we got funny looks
from the neighbours cats!
We've been to all the doctors
To all trick cyclists
We've even tried religion
To try to get us fixed
But no matter what we took or did
it wouldn't fix or heed
Caused we've all been mis-diagnosed
It's living life we need!

Remember
cobbled streets
slated walks
dungeoned cellars
radio talks
pointless sundays
quiet and drab
drilled for church
Pre-Monday sad
bonfire nights
all ablaze
straggling homeward
eyes all hazed
annual holidays
sometimes came
never promised
but hard work gained
xmas buzz
snow seemed too high
slowed the traffic
cold hands cried
each new year
welcomed in
midnight feasting
felt like sin
families closer
than today
felt protected
the rule held sway
simple pleasures
sort and tried
amused ourselves
felt more pride
closer to the mother earth
each day brought what it was worth
never had no neon lights
or separation from raw life

my last memory of the Lake District which I walked in '99The Lakes
ancient of our time
surround with wooded glades
cobbled leaning walls
mossy coated world
winding leaf strewn lanes
cottages are thatched
dales with mottle sheep
whistling dogs surround
air is fresh and clean
no cities live out here
towns that have emerged
from the forest woods
the lakes were saved by grace
of a ladies pen
left to us in trust.
and then in the Japanese nature of the Haiku
Nature Haikus
mountains
frozen capped
brooding
streams
silvery threads
warbling
lakes
silent blankets
guarding
winter
mantled
resting
spring
gently waking
stirring
