Simple answer - no paper trail. If you send email and/or attachment it is stored in many places along it's route including your ISP and the recipients ISP, if you sent it from a company server then there is a record there too.

Send a fax there is no record anywhere other than the fact that a phone call was made and received.

Ah, good points - I hadn't thought of it in that way and that makes a lot of sense.

I don't see why you would need one if you have a computer. You could use email and attachments instead.

I truly didn't realize fax machines were still used.
