Where's the problem in that? That's the principle means whereby electric vehicles will be charged.

I did read that there are thoughts being mulled over whereby electric cars might provide a reservoir during the night to smooth over any peaks in demand by returning power to the grid - and then absorbing power to charge vehicle batteries by the time that (presumably) had been programmed as being required for use.

It's touched on in the article.

There's a massive change now coming down the pike in order to address the essential next phase of the anthropocene.

The most cost efficient and technology efficient is to move to an electric alternative and only using hydrogen for large buildings and district heating which is what is now in the process of being planned.

Use of natural gas is simply unacceptable in much the same way that town gas was replaced by natural gas and electricity.

Gas is technologically so yesterday - not to mention environmentally unaffordable in a BIG way.
So are you for nuclear energy?

Coal and gas burning power stations produce huge amounts of heat and could be used to heat whole towns and villages for free. Think New York....

Although nuclear power stations provide virtually free electricity they produce huge amounts of contaminated materials, disposal will become a big problem in the future.

Re: Climate change and OFGEN plan

Personally, I think this entire idea is just plain silly. A relatively small island state attempting to change the entire earths environment by switching to electric ? I would be like trying to stop the flow of the Thames by having everyone go to the river and taking out one teacup full.
In the meantime, China and India , to name just a few, are spewing forth massive amounts of greenhouse gasses.

Something to think about: What about all of the emissions from tens of thousands of jet planes in the sky every single day ? Is anyone foolish enough to think that will ever change ?

never happen. Too many houses to convert to all electric. Another brain think tank only using one cell not a full charge

Yes. As part of the solution to anthropogenic climate change.

Pretty much every house in the UK already have an adequate electricity supply already.

Electric storage heaters are mostly sub 3kW and so would be "plug and play".

Introduce meaningful environmental taxes and even rationing and watch polution fall.

As for existing major sources such as China, already China is working a very successful program to bring this down but in any case this is a global disaster and EVERYONE let alone a small island state has a responsibility to tackle it - everyone.

It is going to mean a huge change to how we all live our lives but there is no alternative. It is precisely because of how we have been living that has caused this global environmental collapse. We HAVE to change.
