A few years ago I parked in a pay and display car park. An old lady of about 90 drove in, crunching her gears and revving the engine, and proceeded to park diagonally across two spaces.
I thought I'd better warn her that the previous week a woman had written to the local paper complaining that she had received a parking fine for parking over the lines and into a second space.
I said "I think you'll find you will get a fine parking there because you are taking up two spaces." She just smiled and very politely asked me if I would go and get her TWO tickets from the machine in that case. I did.
I used to have an elderly neighbour (now gone) who drove to the local newsagent every morning to get his newspaper.
He never parked but oblivious to everyone stopped his car outside the shop in the middle of the road
If you were in one of the other shops you would know he had arrived from the sound of people sounding their horns.
He did this for years, he was a well known local eccentric and feature
