Re: Vertigo

Good luck with your new medication EZ. I still think the Brandt- Daroff exercise is worth a try. Unpleasant at first but it cured my dizziness in 2 days. Of course vertigo is a symptom of different ailments. Mine was particles in the inner ear labyrinth.

Getting slightly desperate now so I'm about to give your suggestion a try for a few days..or daze.. scot37. I'm not looking forward to it as the slightest movement is very disturbing but as I'm a grownup......arguably......here goes.

Re: Vertigo

Latest Update. After seeing four different GPs and talking to a fifth on the telephone the decision was made to refer me to a hospital. I have now received an appointment at the Medway Maritime Hospital in six weeks time! Apparently this is one of only three hospitals in the country that have a department that specialises in my type of "Giddiness". Various meds prescribed have made no difference at all so hopefully Dr Unpronounceable at the hospital can help me.

Re: Vertigo

Several years ago I visited the doctor with vertigo. It was my lucky day as he was brilliant.
He Immediately diagnosed BPPV (look it up on internet for a full explanation rather than me trying to explain it). Anyway he told me about the Epley manouvre, showed me a video on you tube and offered to do it with me. I was glad to try anything. To be honest it was hell, I fought him like mad and he had to hold me down but it did the trick. (My husband was also there). Since then I and my husband have learnt to do this and if I feel the
slightest dizziness starting I just do the manoevre. Sometimes it may take a couple of
sessions but mostly for me it works first time. Few doctors seem to know about Epley so I really was lucky that day to see a doctor who did. Certainly worth a try if you are suffering with this type of vertigo.

Re: Vertigo

Interesting Maggie - I could only watch a little on you tube
I guess it depends on 'why' you have Vertigo, I'd be very scared to have it done
Its well worth the mention you gave though and I thank you for posting it

Re: Vertigo

My hospital appointment was for this coming week but I have cancelled it. Since this problem started back in June it has been very slowly improving and has now reached the point where I feel it would be a waste of a Docs time as the symptoms have all but gone. Hopefully not to return again but only time will tell.
