Re: detained for four years

No ... it comes nowhere near sufficient 'time for the crime'.

The car was split in two the crash was that lethal.
He fled the scene.
Five people died.

Do these judges realise how daft they sound when they also sentence ... and disqualified from driving for seven years and three months .

Re: detained for four years

Yet another case of the punishment not fitting the crime...I suppose His age had something to do with it...what exactly does being detained mean?

Re: detained for four years

Not long enough had the victims been innocent?

The "victims" were taking part in a crime.....all lovely people apparently, apart from being crooks, that is.

I'm afraid I agree with tpin, if they were innocent throw the book at him, but they were all in it together, possibly encouraging him to speed ?

Re: detained for four years

A couple of the deceased were 24 years old ..so in that respect they should have known better.
But at 15 so should the teenager. He was old enough to understand the enormity of what he was doing, driving at 88 mph in a built up area ... and it was he that was behind the wheel.

Re: detained for four years

What I can't understand is how anyone with a functioning brain would get in a car with a 15 year old behind the wheel
Also how did he survive to walk away from such a catastrophic crash.

Some driving offences deserve a lifetime ban, that might help to concentrate minds a little.

Maybe he was the only one wearing a seat belt?
