Re: Ideas please
i have often been stopped by people with small compact cameras etc and asked about what I use and how did I learn.
The simple reply is if someone wants to get to use a DSLR camera of any make I say start it in fully auto mode at the beginning, get used to what the camera can do on its own. Then take each step individually by first of all using one of the settings be it shutter -aperture etc and get used to them and finally full manual mode.
What frightens people off is looking at a camera seeing all the settings and thinking I could never master all that so they don't bother.
The replies I get generally is "I never thought of doing that"
Like every thing one has to take things step by step
AsTessa says you start seeing against just looking and that is the difference.
Take something simple like a flower, most would say "that is a nice flower" and leave it at that. Looking at it with a photographers eyes you start noticed the surroundings- how the light hits it- the shape of the bloom- the height it stands- what is the best angle to see it- contrast of colours etc etc
