I missed that but I hear that the excellent Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva both got the top two places. Will have to catch up on iPlayer or YouTube I suppose.

The Canadian women's ice hockey team lost to the US in a shoot-out.
The US played the better game, and deserved the win.

During the medal ceremony, one player removed her silver medal as soon as it was placed around her neck.
Disappointment is inevitable.
Crying is totally acceptable.
Anger is to be expected.
But refusing to wear a medal is very un-Canadian and very unsportsmanlike.
Wear that medal proudly for your country!
And be a better role model for all the upcoming hopeful Olympians!

She told reporters after the game why she didn't want to wear the second-place medal.
Just hard. We were going for gold," she said, via The Globe and Mail. When asked if the silver was any consolation she responded, "I mean, yeah. Once we reflect. But now, not at the moment.

For sure. Just being there is amazing!

Apparently she was pulled aside and told by an official she had to wear it for legal reasons. Not sure what that's about. And nobody seems to know if she did put it on.

Alina Zagitova has beaten team-mate Evgenia Medvedev to the gold medal in the winter Olympics after an outstanding performance. Evgenia got the silver and Canada's Kaetlyn Osmond took the bronze. It's the first gold medal for the Russian team. Well done to all the winners.
