So now it's a race. Who will leave the EU first, Britain or France?

Re: Wonderful news

She hasn't surged anywhere she is 1 ptè ahead according to one poll. and read the paragraph under the photo which says Fillon will most likely win whatever happens.

There are lot of unanchored votes from the Socialists now Hollande has stepped don and no one is really ready to run and LePen isn't going to get left wing votes. Much of the Republicains have moved to the right too, splitting LePen's support.

Clearly you did not read the article.

Why change the habit of a lifetime?

Were the words too long?

"However, even if Le Pen is able to win the first round vote in April, the results of the survey show her main rival Fillon appears the more likely to become the country’s next president.
Behind the two leaders is Emmanuel Macron, who received between 17 and 20 per cent of the vote in a variety of different scenarios."

At one point Hilary Clinton was well ahead in the the USA. Very few thought Trump would win. Anything can happen.

Re: Wonderful news

I always wonder just how many people have to be asked in order to produce a poll or a survey.
You see all the time on TV that so many percent of British people think something, when in fact they probably only asked a few and certainly not me, ever!

Exactly what the liberal elite thought about our referendum, yet 60% of Labour constituencies voted to LEAVE! I wouldn't bet against Le Pen getting in. She is not the rabid ultra-right nutter her dad was and she hides any remnants of such views under her populism. Even after Trump and Brexit, our lords and masters still do not understand the total contempt and rage felt by many ordinary (usually left leaning) folk against the liberal/corporate elites which have been screwing them for so long.

These days it's anybody's game, you can bet that in France, as in the UK and USA, the metropolitan elite are way out of touch with the ordinary Joe Soap, and with a bit of luck will get the same sort of surprise come the election....

I agree Barry. I am sure that the majority of French people are in no way racist but years of not being listened to makes them turn to drastic measures and ultimately protest voting.
