Re: Opticians

You should have your eyes tested yearly Eliza so they can check for any changes. I have early stage cataracts and was told to have a yearly check. You don't necessarily have to buy new specs but let them check your eyes.

Re: Opticians

I used to go to Specsavers & never had any problems with my varifocals from them, but decided to go to our local independent opticians as it's nearer. Wrong move, only got one pair for the same money & a year later after taking them back several times I still can't wear them. They cost a lot, but I got fed up with them not getting them right, I am still wearing my old specs, which are several years old now, but I can see fine with them.
Just put my new ones on & they are definitely not right still. I have to peer at the very bottom to get focus on the screen, it was easier to go back to the old ones.

I have cataracts too, also early stages. Mine don't seem to have got worse.

Re: Opticians

I go to spec-savers - no complaints so far.
I like the way all their frames are on display and priced.

Re: Opticians

I go to Specsavers. I like the way I can try on as many pairs as I like instore until I find the right pair. I did try their online selection thing but when I asked for a certain pair in store they weren't able to find them by name.Waste of time.

Many opticians offer back of the eye photographs, but they need to be seen by a consultant eye specialist for meaningful assessment. The NHS has these facilities and expertise - more qualified than.... mainstream opticians.
My annual optical digital is done and assessed by a team from the hospital.

My annual eye test is carried out by a retired (six months ago) eye surgeon at his opticians shop, so I am more than confident he know what he is talking about!

Re: Opticians

Worked with several OMPs over the years. Good on pathology, not so good on refraction.

Re: Opticians

And seeing as I just quoted my own post, I think it's time I went.
