Re: The Polish and Others are leaving.

I hate to think how we ever coped before we joined the EU!
It does annoy me when people come here and enjoy the fruits this country has to offer them but when things change they go running off home! Thanks for your loyalty!!
This younger Polish generation are so unlike the thousands of Polish/Lithuanian men and women who stayed and settled here after the war. They stayed here and worked hard for this country and didn't jump ship when things didn't go to their liking.

How very true. One of our close friends' father was a Pole who fought with the French Resistance during the war, then came here to live. He lived here until his death a few years ago, and was an asset to the country.

Hi

When you move to a new country to work it takes time to figure out the best deal for you.

Nothing strange about that at all.

We are losing Doctors and Nurses big time now.

Does that affect me?

No, not at all.

Just means that I get more money to house those that we need.

Doh! The Poles who stayed here after the War had nowhere to go to.

Well said Art! Many Polish people settled her after the war, but they worked hard and didn't expect an easy life. We all work for money, but too many of the European migrants have no allegiance to the countries they work in, they just want a better life than their own country will provide for them. It really is time that we started to look after our own..and if there aren't enough of us, we will have to work harder... like the polish people of the war did!

Bollocks.

We do not have enough, nor are we training enough those specialists we rely on.

Zoshia has now gone to |Germany, we were paying her £96k a year, we are now paying a stand in £260k a year for weekends only.

.
96k ! Can I ask Swims how long they have been working in this country and staying with you?
Were they intending to settle here permanently or just work, enjoy cheap digs and stash the cash?

Hi

No, not at all, they were here here simply because we needed them and did not train enough of our own.

We have 12,000 EU Doctors working in the UK.

Lose them and the NHS would be a disaster.

What part of this do you not understand?

It takes many, many years to train a Doctor.

Without them we are stuffed.

The fall in the £ means we are not attracting them anymore.

They are leaving.

The fall in the £ means that we are losing Nurses hand over fist, more are leaving than are arriving, yet we are now charging our youngsters to train as Nurses.

Absolute madness.

Re: The Polish and Others are leaving.

I'm getting confused now Swims .... if your friends are leaving as they are disillusioned with their declining prospects in the UK they'll pass another load of new arrivals coming in from Poland.

January 2017
The health service is to recruit hundreds of GPs from countries such as Poland, Lithuania, Greece with promises of £90,000 salaries and “generous relocation packages” in a bid to tackle a spiralling NHS crisis.

The new scheme run by NHS England will see doctors from across the EU undergoing 12 weeks training in Poland before they start work in Britain.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017...huania-greece/

Edited to add: Could be wrong but it looks the Relocation Package in itself, is worth 8k.

From where I'm sitting, I'd agree and I'd say it was time the NHS/government got off it's backside and dealt with training and keeping our own home grown doctors instead of relying on foreigners and having to treat them as though they were irreplaceable.

In that respect they are taking jobs that could and should go to our own British citizens.
