How would they know.....He was the expert.

Who would dare question a surgeon?

Did you hear that woman say she told him she would like a second opinion, Julie?
He just said there was no one else to give an opinion, he said he was THE top man!

It's all very well some people perhaps wondering why these ladies didn't question it more, but don't forget they would have been in shock at the verdict.
Apparently he had such a convincing, charming way about him, and the patients can't be expected to know better than a consultant can they, so I guess the poor sods reluctantly went along with it.

I even wondered if it wasn't only money that turned him on.
I actually wondered if he got some kind of perverted sexual turn on as well. Perhaps he was a secret woman hater even, and got a buzz out of damaging their breasts?

Good point Doc.

He had insurance of £10 million but the compensation claims are much more .

Re: Surgeon jailed for 15 years

The report I heard said that it was likely that he would only serve seven and a half years in prison, but the patients concerned have to live the rest of their lives with his fake treatments.
He hasn't only damaged his patients lives, because I wonder how many people, who really do have cancer, will now doubt the diagnosis of it because they don't know if they can trust the surgeons at private clinics?
Doctors don't always get everything right, but at private clinics they can make more money by deliberately getting it wrong

If you have something serious the NHS is the ways to go .
But this man worked for the NHS too despite being dismissed from one trust he was employed by another.

Trouble Is ome surgeons do have a bit of a God complex and it's easy to see why your life is literally in their hands

I agree Muddy but, as the NHS are under so much pressure, I wonder how many people will find the money from somewhere to try and speed up the treatment when they have been told they have a life threatening illness.
One lady said she had lost her job, marriage and her home because of what he did. I don't think having her breast removed would have caused this, but the psychological damage caused, by losing them, could have.

It can take up to two weeks to get to hospital that's after you manage to get a GP appointment. Privately you see a specialist next day.

You find a lump, you have the money.

Which way would you go ?

I think that many of the practice doctors have the same complex.

I would caution my wife not to speak to the Doctor until he turned round from his screen and opened a conversation with us.

She didn't like that approach because of the long, awkward silence which often occurred.

Interestingly, the Private Doctors were the very opposite - they were immediately welcoming and informative - like car salesmen!

Sometimes it was the same Doctor!

Too many variables for a straight answer. Depends on how much money you have and whether spending this will had an adverse effect on your and your families future.
