Italy struggles under immigration

Italy is struggling under the weight of mass immigration to its shores .
It says unless someone helps it it may mean the end of the EU.
Don't quite know what they mean but it's obvious they cannot keep taking in North African boatpeople on the massive scale they are doing on a daily basis .

Re: Italy struggles under immigration

It is absolutely ridiculous.

All the locusts have to do is successfully set sail from North Africa and, before you know it, they have been picked up by some well meaning naval vessels and taken the rest of the way in comfort to the shores of Italy.

Just how stupid can people be?

The the Ities whinge about the number of immigrants in their country and then do their best to palm them off on to the rest of Europe. Others, such as Hungary and Austria do all they can to prevent their infesting their countries, whilst Germany and France seem more than happy to ask them in.

We have the advantage of the English Channel. Italy has the advantage of the Mediterranean Sea.

Why are these assets not used to their full advantage? Even if they make it to European shores, why aren't they sent back straight away?

Countries bordering Italy are beefing up their border security

Austria has deployed armoured vehicles close to its border with Italy and will send up to 750 soldiers to block any migrants trying to head north, the government announced.

The move reflects deep concern in Vienna and elsewhere in Europe over the huge number of asylum seekers who continue to cross the Mediterranean from Libya – so far this year more than 85,000 have been rescued and brought to Italy.

Yes, and they seem to be meeting with more success. And they don't even have a 'moat' like we do.

He can expect all he wants, we are leaving and will no longer be under the jackboot.

Germany and their French lapdog will have to content themselves with threatening weaker nations, and even then I believe their time is limited. Once we are out, and show them that we can trade effectively with other nations, others will follow. I am sure of it.

The Euro is already heading for collapse.

Re: Italy struggles under immigration

Italy has a unique problem. In 100 years, if nothing changes, Italy's population will be one fifth of its current level and perhaps immigration is its only solution however immigration on that scale has never been tried.

Interesting times.

As for this leading the break up of the EU? Nah!

Not a bad thing, a small population means less demand for resources, more opportunities, more space, more sustainable and more efficient.
There is an unemployment problem in Italy why should immigration help them?
Especially as their problem is having huge number of illegal immigrants mainly male from North Africa and other countries not skilled immigration .

Not necessarily. It's not just about numbers, it's about an ageing population. An increasing proportion of the population over retirement age means an increasing burden on the taxpayer to provide for them (us) and the healthcare they (we) consume at a greater rate than the rest of the population.

I can't believe that pernsioners cost more than tens of thousands of illegal immigrants .
Most of whom are unskilled and if they are asylum seekers can't work anyway.
