His parents have now given up the legal fight.

I hope the entire thing can now be resolved quickly and with dignity.

That worries me, now a hospital can dictate to a parent where a child dies and if it gets another opinion. Worrying times IMO.

I suppose the next thing we will hear is that GOSH is to be sued because they did not the parents take Charlie out of their care. The hospital were on a hiding to nothing, whatever they did. I can just imagine how terribly hard it has been for the dedicate specialist nurses caring all these months for a terminally ill little boy.

One woman said she just had to ring and tell the hospital what she thought about them? Really these people are not helping anyone,

How can we consider anybody to be in the wrong on this? They were all dong what they thought was best for the child... but maybe, if the American doctor had really believed that he could help, he should have been allowed to come over sooner to confirm that.
I really hope that both the parents and the staff at GOSH will now be allowed to do what has to be done without the journalists making it harder for them all. A simple message to say "Charlie has died" is the only thing we need to hear from them now!

GOSH invited the American doctor to come over and make an assessment seven months ago (January) and he failed to respond to their invitation. So they cant be held to be responsible for the delay.

I agree Dolly ,I wouldnt be surprised if GOSH is now blamed and sued.If the American Dr felt he could help why didnt he respond earlier,only a few days ago Charlies parents were still fighting for him to be treated,now suddenly they back down
They are still young enough to have more children.I know nothing will replace Charlie but they would be given a lot of care during pregnancy to try and prevent any problems

To me that answers a lot of questions then! If the American doctor really believed he could help, and make money doing so he would have realized that time was important and got here sooner. I am now not surprised that GOSH went to such lengths to prevent the child from becoming a guinea pig for his new treatments!
