Thank you all for your very interesting replies folks, it's just that I have never seen anyone on TV wearing a beard mask or whatever they're called. I've never cooked meself so I really don't know the hygienics of it all. There are so many cooking shows on TV now and it seems every Tom Dick and Harry is happily swinging their frying pan around the place while yapping at the same sending slivers of saliva down on the food to be served to the unsuspecting diner, thank God I know who cooks mine.

Ive worked in food factories where bearded men had to wear nets or coverings on their beards, they were referred to as 'snoods'.
