unsung heroines : Danielle de Niese on the Lost World of Female Composers

Currently on BBC4. This is an unexpected delight with a top soprano exploring hardly known female composers from past centuries. Some amazingly beautiful music and opera as she is bursting into song herself attempting some of the pieces. Lovely settings too. Currently in Florence. Just what you need after a long week.

I have only just realised. There are no famous female composers. Are there?

No there aren't because women were apparently not considered creative and they were not allowed to do anything but pop babies.
