Dandelions.

Dandelions - I've just read somewhere that they are edible. Not only that - but you can make beer with them.

Has anybody ever done that?

Re: Dandelions.

Carol my Nanna made every sort of wine imaginable including dandelion which I didn't much care for. It was an un attractive colour too like pee.

I am having dandelions in my green salad this evening. They grow in a corner of the garden near the raspberries where I know they are clean and untainted by dogs .

Re: Dandelions.

Grief that recipe is awful-don`t touch it. Dandelion petals can be used to make a country wine though,if you are good enough it`s very drinkable with a slight hint of honey-I did win prizes for my wine and beer once upon a time.

The young leaves can be used in salads and the roots once roasted can be ground to make a hot drink.

Re: Dandelions.

I have to say this is news to me, I always thought Dandelions were poison, Phillis couldn't believe it until I showed her the thread, but then we are townies, that explains it I suppose.
