Oh dear! I'm gently weeping into a tissue now because of the ferocity of your post. We were getting on so well, and although you were really stupid I enjoyed our repartee’

Re: Magic money tree.

Some reasons (among many) why there were less beggars in the 50s:
-Thatcher had yet to abolish large mental hospitals without providing a viable alternative

-Thatcher would effectively abolished council housing, selling off the estate while forbidding councils to replace what was sold

- Thatcher went on to abolish education in favour of training for future work (a social engineering experiment not totally dissimilar to Brave New World) which led to a generation where many were unable to think for themselves

But it wasn't all Thatcher:
- Every government since Thatcher allowed the policies to continue

-Universal credit hadn't forced many benefits claimants onto the streets as private landlords evicted them in the absence of benefit funded rent

Re: Magic money tree.

Maggie was about 25 years of age in the 50s. And didn’t become an MP until 1959, but you are right of course to blame her, she was also responsible for the Great Fire of London and the Black Death all results of poor fiscal policies. I think you can blame her for the end of life in the Universe (has we know it Jim) due to runaway inflation.
I don’t know what you are smoking but if you have some spare...?

I think I did? But, I will type this slowly....Maggie, God Bless her, was not a member of Parliament until 1959......ok? Don’t you ever read your posts before you inflict them on us?
Don’t you ever do any research or do you just make it up as you go along?

I can see I will have to simplify my prose and reasoning:
1950s - long ago. 2110s - now.
Supposedly, 1950s - no beggars, 2110s - beggars.
Therefore, something must have happened between then and now to cause the change.
That something, unless you can come up with a better answer, is largely down to Thatcher and her political legacy.
Get it now?

Re: Magic money tree.

Something has happened between the 1950, and 2110? even scores of years after her death and into the future it’s Maggie fault?
May I suggest you have a lie down in a dark room and stop smoking that stuff. ....but,...
It’s with great pleasure that I must inform you that your posts have been selected for this years Darwin Award. Well done, you are a credit to your education.
