Yes, you are not typical of someone who has this type of problem. If you have been the victim of some 'pretend' website then that is very unusual and would no-doubt have caught nearly everyone out - including me.

Well if someone is 'bent' or the website is itself so then yes the donation site is to blame. It all hinges on someone getting hold of the paypal username and password. The username is easy to acquire but the password is normally entered on a secure site but no-doubt there are ways where a person's keystrokes can be logged. Just like those money machine frauds were being carried out where a dummy keyboard was placed over the original a 'dummy' paypal site could also be setup where the user is unaware that they are not on the paypal site at all. Dead easy to acquire a user's password then.

I don't know which is to blame but as one of the fraudulent transactions was through Paypal, I suspect that. I checked with Red Cross and they did indeed receive the donation.

Still sickened at the thought that they caught me out!

Just logged on to my bank, and sent a secure message saying I was expecting to hear from the fraud team the other day and what about the outstanding £176 from the two Tesco transactions...only to find that it went in today!

Ooops. Red face.

One of the pupils in today's computer class said her friend had bank account hacked, via PayPal. Seems that's where major problems lie.
