Ah, we live and learn.

b.i.b.

I thought it might have meant Bloody Idiot Brexiteer! There are some who would have meant that, I'm sure.

(Oh no! I've gone and given them an idea now.)

Bloody ‘eck! Everyday is a learning experience on here, I have learned that are aliens at the centre of the world and what b.i.b. means. I did wonder about how far you could dig into the earth, and I am hoping that the ex under the patio won’t be discovered for a long time.

The best I've ever managed was about six feet, and that was hard work.

I know what you mean, but a word of advice,
A layer of slabs on the top can be a bit dodgy I found, when the body starts to decompose the slabs sink and cause a shallow depression. I picked up a trick from Charlie Dimmock on Ground Force and turned it into a water feature, I put some goldfish in it and one of those garden gnomes with a fishing rod. The ex would have been right chuffed with it if she had been around and not bloody nagged so much.

No, I wasn't digging a grave for my wife, although that's what I told an inquisitive little boy who came to see what I was doing.

I was digging foundations for a lean-to garage at our previous house. The buildings inspector told me I had to dig down to a layer of peat at about six feet depth. When I'd done that, I found that it was only a couple of inches thick. If I'd ignored him I'm sure the garage would have been fine anyway.
