Diabetic eyetest OK

I had my annual screening test for any sign of diabetic retinopathy this morning, and got a clean bill of health.
So that's 17 years since diagnosis, which is even more pleasing
I'm about due for an ordinary eye test anyway, so I think I'll arrange that, and get some new glasses as well
Ready for the spring!

Re: Diabetic eyetest OK

That's good news. I had mine recently and it too was fine. Good to keep it checked.

I have a hospital appointment some time to check my eye pressure as the optician found it high at my recent test. This has happened several times and it's usually subsided by the time I've seen an ophthalmologist. Or the opticians machine took incorrect readings. Who knows?

I accept the referrals as I had shingles in one eye some years ago, with a pressure of 40! So I am happy to always get it checked out.

On my last few eye tests I've had raised eye pressure too but when I've gone back and had what they call a Goldman test, its been OK. I can only put it down to the first machine not being accurate.

The pressure test and the Goldman test are two different things altogether.

One measures intraocular pressure and the other is a field vision test.

Re: Diabetic eyetest OK

My eye pressure sometimes goes a bit high with that machine that puffs air at your eye. The optician then tells me to relax and the next reading is fine. The machine they can actually put on your eye, after special drops have been put in, is more accurate.

Well done Zuludog & Jazzi,

I have mine done once a year, but I have damaged retina at the back on my right eye, a bit of bleeding, might have to have Laser treatment one day.

Re: Diabetic eyetest OK

Prompted by the diabetic eye test I decided to have my ordinary test brought forwards a few months as I was a bit suspicious, especially about my right eye.

Just as well I did; I needed to change the prescription in both eyes, for both distance and reading glasses. I can now read well down to the bottom/smaller lines of letters for both reading & distance

I've had my reading glasses re - glazed, and taken advantage of Soecsaver's two-for-one offer to get two new pairs of distance/everyday glasses

That should see me sorted for the foreseeable (!) future
