As the great Sean Lock has pointed out, that is just the occasion when swearing is meant for.

Re: Swearing and rudeness in general

We were bought up to be polite, not be rude and swearing never occurred in our house. My parents instilled in us right and wrong and I am very grateful.

Great story and much like my parents. I never heard my dad swear until he once cut the Christmas tree too short.

Ever so much more cathartic and effective when such words are saved for just the right moment .

Yes, such as when you miss the head of the nail with the hammer and hit your thumb instead.

What a strange comment.

I think you should perhaps have a lie down Gravy.
What with wanting to know how to pronounce 'Poo-tin' and then 'Theresa' and now believing old people swearing gets a standing ovation on your telly, hmm . . . .

It's not strange. It is a factual statement.

As anyone who watches shows with swearing in should know.
