The Monkees

Does anyone remember them "Hey, Hey Were The Monkees". I was absoloutely Monkee crazy when I was at school. Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz were my favourites, and if I had to choose out of those two it was Micky Dolenz. I've still got all their original LP albums plus a rare album by Davy. I was really bonkers over them.

Re: The Monkees

Thanks old git, watching that gave me all goose pimples again I never liked Micky Dolenz with curly hair though, always prefered him with the straight hair.

I can't believe there hasn't been more people answered in this thread about them, they were really big in the 60's/70's and had thousands of screaming fans after them.

I think their music ability was a bit to be desired but I don't think that mattered too much.

You mean Mike Nesmith with the woolly hat, and Peter Tork was the blondish hair one

They should have called Mike, Benny (as in Crossroads)

I think at the time Mags one was either a Beatles fan or a Monkees fan. I was a bit young to be a Beatles fan although I did name my dad's goldfish after them The Monkees were more in my era.

Re: The Monkees

I stand corrected Ali I thought when I wrote it it didn't seem right I wasn't a huge fan of either the Monkees or the Beatles I am afraid but did used to sit through their rather batty series....

Re: The Monkees

I was a complete Monkee-maniac!! They came along when I was the prime age for teenage swooning (12/13) and I didn't miss an episode.

Sad story to relate - they were going to come to Atlanta (where I grew up) as part of their tour in 1967. My friends and I excitedly got tickets and it was all we could talk about for weeks. But unfortunately, they cancelled the concert at the last minute. We were absolutey gutted.

I did manage to see them at Wembley Arena back in the 90's though, the last time all 4 performed together. It was wonderful
