My bears are Charlie, Merrythought, Steiff, Deans, SAS, Chiltern, Kosin & others. Most are valuable & mohair. Moths love eating mohair sadly.

Re: I am being besieged ...

It appears that clothes moths are on the increase because of the habit of washing in low tempetkres, 30oC doesn't kill their eggs

it is suggested that all clothes are rewashed at higher temps

Oh so they have changed their minds now. I have always thought that 30oC was not hot enough to wash clothes properly.

I hate killing any creature but I do think you have to at the first signs of them, otherwise they will multiply very quickly.

And you are correct

Most cultures are colonised at 30oC in the lab. So washing clothes that have something nasty be it thrush or moths at 30oC is only compounding the problem

How does a thrush get in your washing?
I tumble dry everything for a few minutes to shake out any nunus lurking.
In Africa you iron everything to be sure there's nothing nasty hiding.

There was an Art teacher who wanted to get into my clothes but unfortunately I was too green to know what she was on about at the time.

If you have vaginal thrush it can live in your knickers quite happily as can oral thrush on hankies and bedclothes ( think dribbling at night)

As you say, a hot iron will kill bugs but modern times means many people now wash on a cool wash and iron as little as possible
