Yes, I do poach them that way.

I also deep fry my poached eggs from time to time, I am a bit of a foodie.

The secret to good poached eggs is the eggs must be really fresh or the white 'spreads' in the pan.

Break the egg into a cup,
..bring a pan of water to simmering,
..swirl the water with a fork to create a vortex effect,
..now slide the egg into the middle and cook.
Remove the egg with a slotted spoon and drain briefly on a piece of kitchen roll.

Egg + microwave poacher+ bit of butter+dash of vinegar+ 50 secs on full = lazy burgers poached egg.
