Re: Global warming - irrefutable

The problem is whatever we do here in our tiny island to combat global warming will be but a drop in the ocean compared with the pollution caused by the large developing countries who are trying to catch up with us in achieving a decent standard of living .
And of course much of this can only be achieved with the use of polluting fuel.

I don't know what the answer is ...

No Alan, we're not heading towards it, we are already there, it must be obvious to anyone with more than one brain cell that the world is over populated now and no one (apart from maybe the Chinese) seems to be willing to do anything.

Yes Patsy, once the moon has become 'liveable' the humans will be aggressively trying to exploit it anyway they can.

But let's look on the bright side, if 'climate change' will in 50 or 100 years cause whole parts of the planet to engage in wars over food and water maybe, just maybe, there's a chance that it will exist in 1000 years, it ain't looking likely at the moment.

It is exactly because every nation has that attitude that nothing worthwhile is being achieved.

I am always mindful that someone on Easter Island chopped down the last tree knowing that it was the last tree left and the population spent decades in misery and starvation as a result.

It doesn't bode well for the future.

Re: Global warming - irrefutable

If you read the BBC post in it's entirety the incredible loss of fish stocks and crop production is staggering. With so much food production lost in so short a time there will be pandemonium. These revelations are so horrible that it kind of makes me silent - too shocked to even think about it.

Irrefutable until another expert comes along and refutes it. Ad infinitum the messages from both sides get more muddled, how can we be sure which is telling the truth. ?

Well, this isn't a report by one expert but by many. There can be no-doubt now we have caused it and making it worse daily.

There is doubt, from what many are saying it would be happening anyway, all we have done is hasten it, nothing we can do will do anything more than slow it.

TBH if all the people who believed it all (politicians, scientists and climate activists) stopped heating their homes, driving their cars and flying in planes etc I would take it all much more seriously. Also if there was less money involved in it all it might be more believable.

Lol - eh nope. You did read the article I presume?

Global warming wouldn't have happened on it's own Julie. The conclusion, by loads of scientists, is that WE created it.

It doesn't matter a blind **** if people try to behave any differently at this moment in time, and they wouldn't anyway. The sanctions needed to sort this out must come from controlling bodies.

Sheesh ...

Ive seen reports by collections of experts of the opposite opinion stating its part of a natural cycle so i disagree with your assumption that this report is any more informed.

Meanwhile im told the South of the UK is sinking while the North is rising, Yellowstone Park will soon blow and destroy the Planet, Its only a matter of time till cosmic matter will do the same.

The Sun will eventually fail, or a pandemic will wipe us out unless we decide to release Armageddon on ourselves.

So many theories, so little time, if the worlds population continues to expand then we will consume ourselves out of existence. Its said cockroaches will inherit the planet, perhaps they will make a better hash of things.
