Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Men at Work formed in Melbourne in 1978 by Colin Hay on lead vocals; Jerry Speiser on drums; and Ron Strykert on lead guitar; they were soon joined by Greg Ham on flute and keyboards; and then John Rees on bass guitar.

listened to a fascinating interview with Colin Hay about the formation and destruction of the band - a tale of sudden riches and a descent into alcoholism

he is now touring OZ again with a new band having given up the evil brew!!

By the heck gummy my old son, your contributions are on form atmo.
my grampy would say "shite hot"

I love your poetry.

The luck of the Irish was unknown to me and is a showstopper
John Lennon was not appreciated for his views on history &
sidelined as a weirdo by the press.

oh , had he lived//////////////

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Shite hot That's a good one.
Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison, all had Irish connections Gummy. I never heard that song although I knew it existed, it was banned on the national broadcasting stations here.
I was thinking the same as you RJ that It was such a pity Lennon was shot, he had so much more to give I think, ah well such is life.

Us ordinary Joe Soaps don’t know how lucky we are to have our freedom to go anywhere without being pestered all the time, with all the fame and fortune is it really worth it to lose that freedom?
I can put on me coat and walk out the door anytime I feel like it, go into any public house and talk to anyone, go for a stroll in the park with my dog, visit an art gallery or a museum, and if it’s a good Summers day I can swim in the sea at any of the beautiful strands that surround Dublin Bay without anyone to annoy me, I mean even a King can’t do that. Yes my friends, personal freedom is a precious thing.
