Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

did someone call for some muscle??

There he stands at the dead of night
Diamond held cutter poised like a knife
He stands as naked as he was born
And the beads of sweat began to form

As he looked down to strike for the line
All he could see was his stomach sublime
And just a large left and right toe
Oh my god which way to go

And as he bent to look beyond
His arse shot out like a bamboo frond
And the roar that came we were not sure
Was that his arse or was that his saw??

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

M'main people!
Yo....t'is good t'be here in...umm...slightly bemused condition...

Yes. Y'see,we all went for a curry circa a week back. My mate'd quaffed a few, causing him to trip over his own feet and execute a perfect faceplant on the stone floor in the middle of a packed Indian restaurant.

He's now in a korma..... [AI THENKYOH!]
Oh,btw,spitty....there are genuinely such things as 'LEAST common denominators',old chap! Lemme explain. Yes,I do KNOW y'all know this sdtuff already....but ol' spits...well...he juss LUVZ this kinda thang,y'all....so,for my mate spitfire -

It's difficult to add or subtract fractions when the denominators are not the same. Ergo, the use of a common denominator. It's usually easiest to use the least common denominator. The least common denominator is simply the least common multiple (LCM) of the two denominators.
SO:Find the common denominator of the fractions;16 and 38. To do so,we need to find the least common multiple of 6 and 8. One way to do this is to list the multiples: 6,12,18,24 − − ,30,36,42,48,...8,16,24 − − ,32,40,48. As you see,the first number that occurs in both lists is 24,so 24 is the LCM. Thus we use this as our common denominator. SEE?SIMPLES!
Listing multiples is obviously impractical for large numbers,so another way to find the LCM of two numbers is to divide their product by their greatest common factor. I.E;find the common denominator of the fractions 512 and 215. The greatest common factor of 12 and 15 is 3. So,to find the least common multiple, divide the product number by 3. So;12⋅153=3 ⋅ 4 ⋅ 153=60. If you can find a least common denominator, then the problem can be re-written,using equivalent fractions that have like denominators,so they're easy to add or subtract. IE:Add 512 +215.
In the earlier equasion, you saw the least common denominator was 60. So now,we'd use or write each fraction as an equivalent fraction, with the denominator 60. To do this, multiply both numerator and denominator of the first fraction by 5 and the numerator and denominator of the second fraction by 4.This equates to multiplying by 1=55 =44 [so it doesn't change the value] 512=512⋅55=2560215=215⋅44=860. 512 +215 =2560+860=3360 This method may not always give the result in lowest terms,in which case we have to simplify. But,I feel a wave of "Ohshitpleasetellimtoshuttup" sweeping through our blessed pages....so,I shall cease forthwith.....umm....hello,chaps. [and chappette, natch]

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Nice to hear from you again Pug.
Common denominators? are they the little plastic round things with two little wires hanging out the bottom that they solder into the motherboards of computers?
Well I use an Apple Mac who wouldn’t stoop so low as to have common denominators , Apple have royal denominators in their machines.

You are on form again with the poems Gummy, you must be on the wagon.

Recent American Presidents seem to have an obsession with walls, Reagan wanted to tear one down, Papa Bush and then Baby Bush wanted to bomb every wall in Iraq, and now Trump wants to put one up. But to my mind there is only one real wall, in China.

The great wall of China is something to behold
It cost old Hing Ding Ming a fortune in gold
Now tourists come from near and far
To look at the wall and have a jar
They don’t build walls like they did in days of yore
The new materials are crap and rotten to the core
Trump will have his own builders standing by
To build his plastic wall twenty foot high.
But it won't be a patch on the walls of the past
When they knew how to build them and build them to last.

Which is the right way to say that? is it twenty foot high or twenty feet high?

Yes Pug, thanks for confirming the obvious, but I am a bit. Baffled by the numerical semordnilap.

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Ah,glad you asked...a semordnilap is the geometrically reversed algebraic configuration of a fully algebraic equative, such as that which I must ne'er mention, les't I unleash my aibohphobia. But if you use diligence, dear spitfire, you can still,in this 21st century so filled with hatred, intolerance and greed, ask yourself "Are we not drawn onward,we few, drawn onward to new era"....and contemplate the avid diva as you do;for she will happily and with fervour, air an aria. She also does solos-it's a tenet of hers. I,for now, take my leave....in my racecar, with Anna. We'll travel 'till noon, then use the kayak. Right, offhand, that'll do...just find'em and be chuffed. :-]

My 6 yr old grandaughter is as font of wisdom (stop me if you've heard this before).

REcently, studying my facial thread veins, she announced
"GRandad, you are cracking up"

I think that goes for all of us ennit.
