System Restore - Getting switched off by updates?

A number of W10 users have found that System restore has been switched off.

It looks as if MS might be switching it off, during the Update process, and then not switching it back on.

That could leave us up the creek without a paddle.

You might want to check that yours is still switched on.

MS is not saying anything about this but, at a guess, I suspect that they might not want Restore to be used, when a big Update goes wrong, because some users might inadvertently restore back to the wrong date/time after a bad update session thereby not being in the right place to repeat the update.

I think the MS solution is to back out the erroneous update.
