It's almost enjoyable, JBR!

i had my last one done in Windsor. After I was moved down to the "side room" next to the op room I asked the Anesthetist if I could get a pre-op injection. he laughed and said "you won't need it!"

Then I reached up, to scratch an itch, and found there was a bandage over my eye!

Re: Cataract operation

Thank you everyone.

Sorry not to reply sooner but, as I have mentioned earlier, for some reason I don't receive e-mail notifications for all my subscribed posts. God knows why.

Arrived at 1130 (30 minutes early) and registered. Had several explanations with nurses and other professionals, and blood tests, blood pressure readings, heart rate, etc, etc.

Eventually went into the operating theatre and had anaesthetic eye drops and also injections. Eye area swabbed with iodine, etc. Then came the needles into the eye. Apart from a little pushing, I didn't feel anything for which I shall be eternally grateful.

Out of theatre with a transparent eye cover and finally sent home at about 1800. Vision is now slowly returning to my left eye, though it is still very fuzzy. I hope it improves.

I was told to keep the cover in place overnight and until I have showered. Then I can remove it but wear it overnight for a week. In addition, I now have three different types of eye drop to be put in the eye several times each day for the next 28 days and, in one case, for 60 days.

I hope I haven't put anyone off!

Thanks again for your interest and concern.
