Does it really matter?

The Prince of Wales has commented on scones, i.e jam on top or cream on top, and the correct pronunciation is it scone as in stone or scone rhyming with gone.
It’s important I suppose

I don't care what anyone calls them, I don't eat them these days except occasionally wholemeal scones with cheese and chives , no jam and cream .

But it is important that the jam goes on first, you can't easily spread jam on cream but you can spread cream on jam

Well I say scoan, and jam first. Sometimes buy a pack of plain ones, and a small tub of clotted cream. Always got mini jam jars indoors.

Do you think it makes a massive difference to your taste buds regardless of what is on top? I see a scientific experiment that needs carrying out soon

It makes a lot of difference if the jam slides off, on to your shirt,...the jam is more likely to stain than the cream! At least that is why I would put the jam on first!

We have the Village of Scone (as in spoon)near where my own home is in Perth alongside Scone Palace.
We say Scone (as in Don) for the food and we put the jam on first..
