Re: Kitchen renovation

I haven't chosen the cooker yet. The woman who was here on Monday seemed to think it was the same rule for all. Yes, I realise there is a rule and why there is a rule, but I want to read the details for myself.

Re: Kitchen renovation

Here is one example - most manufacturers are different.
Have a look on page four.

Re: Kitchen renovation

Oh, that seems to be placed right beside a fridge. Page 4 Figure A. Is that allowed?

I haven't even decided whether to have gas or electric cooker yet. Really I'd like to have comparative estimates. I think it'd be more expensive to have a gas cooker fitted as it won't be on the same side of the room as the previous one.

Re: Kitchen renovation

Regulations (in the UK) for installation of cookers/hobs etc come under BS 6172.

Here's a link to a part of the wider regs which has pictures and details of the clearances etc.

Re: Kitchen renovation

Oh, I don't think I'll buy anything previously used.

I know I'll have to rely on them to tell me how the cooker must be positioned (they tend to do what they do anyway regardless of what the customer says) but I'd still rather read the rules for myself.

Re: Kitchen renovation

I wonder why kitchen fitters are so concerned about boxing things in?

Been to B&Q, had kitchen "designed" and paid a deposit for a survey.

Re: Kitchen renovation

Changed my mind about the tiles I'd chosen for the splashback. However, I have another week to think about that.

I think I will go with B&Q though.

The others I've contacted seem to me to be either too busy or under-qualified.

I don't mind if I have to wait, but I want definite dates in diaries which others don't seem able to commit to.

Yes, there'll be 30 cm between sink and cooker, and between cooker and fridge.
